Rabie Property Group and Trinity Projects launched Wheatfields Estate, a collection of distinctively designed homes, set in a secure gated estate, on 20 October 2021.
Wheatfields Estate is a dream realised. It was all set in motion in 2015 when Rabie Property Group, Curro and Trinity Projects joined forces to acquire and develop a section of prime land on the Groot Phesantekraal farm in Durbanville. The vision was to create a sustainable development framework plan, which would incorporate a residential estate centered around a secondary and tertiary education hub. The new suburb will be known as Groot Phesantekraal Estate and will also include a shopping mall, offices, retail and further residential developments.
The transaction for a parcel of land on the farm was concluded with the landowner, Curro, Rabie and Trinity Projects in 2018, whereafter the rezoning amendment process commenced. The rights were finally approved mid-2020, and the detailed planning could commence.
Today, the construction of the new Curro Durbanville High School campus is already far advanced. Moving from their current Sonstraal location, the new state of the art campus will be opening their doors for the January 2022 intake with approximately 900 learners.
“We are immensely excited about the construction of our new campus,” says Dirk van Zyl, Executive Head at Curro Durbanville. “After a challenging 2020 and 2021, brought about by the Covid pandemic, our new campus is certainly something to celebrate! Curro Durbanville has grown from humble beginnings to become a solid education foundation for the Durbanville community and surrounds, and we are looking forward to what we feel is a trailblazing next step in South African education.”
A Stadio Higher Education Campus (private university) will be constructed on the site opposite Curro in the near future .
Colin Green, Director Rabie, explains that the symbiotic relationship between Wheatfields Estate and Curro is ideal. “Wheatfields Estate, together with Curro and Stadio, will be the catalysts of a new and exciting mini-suburb in Durbanville. With wide open spaces, secure living adjacent to a green belt and access to world-class education and facilities, this hub is not only well-suited for families, but for anyone who enjoys the space and sense of community that Durbanville offers.”
Wheatfields Estate is a 5,4ha security estate, which ultimately will consist of 152 designer homes. The developers have a phased marketing and construction approach. The first phase to be released will consist of 15 homes, which includes double storey and single storey homes.
“It’s a vision that is actualising after six years and we’re beyond delighted to reveal what we’ve been working on!” says Erik Joubert, Managing Director at Trinity Projects. “Each home is uniquely designed in accordance with its positioning and lay-out. Here, you can make the most of indoor-outdoor living where spacious homes lead to exclusive gardens. Low “werf” walls separate individual gardens from the estate’s landscaped verges, creating a harmonious sense of community.”
“Wide internal roads, demarcated pedestrian and cycling lanes, with pocket play parks and architecturally designed landscaping, the ease of extending into the outdoors, encourages a healthy lifestyle.”
Double storey homes range from 163m², available from R2,65m (VAT inclusive) and single storey homes range from 189m², available from R3,35m (Vat inclusive). All houses will have exclusive gardens, double garages and purchasers can choose from an architect’s selection of finishes. Wheatfields Estate will be developed on a turn-key basis, which entails transfer on the completion of the home.
